North Texas will experience extremely cold weather on Tuesday which will go all the way through Thursday, with several winter weather advisories and alerts in place.
Starting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex will be under a winter weather warning issued by the National Weather Service, which will remain in effect until midnight on Wednesday. Areas included in this are Denton, Collin, Tarrant (Texas), Dallas, and Johnson counties.
10 a.m. Tuesday Forecast will be effective to the counties in the west, such as Wise, Parker, and Cooke.
Our weather forecast suggests extreme chilly conditions, but we should be aware of ice. The 40° high temperatures will keep most of the rainfall on Tuesday until a cold front arrives.
Our weather today will be mostly rainy, especially on Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday evening will see temperatures in the upper 20s and some lower 30’s, with clouds and a north wind expected to cause discomfort while Thursday brings icy conditions. The last day of the record low temperature is on Thursday morning. Wednesday’s pattern will be repeated on the morning of -11 degrees.
The official start of the Extreme Cold Weather Warning is at 9 a.m. Thursday will see a cold and windy day, with the possibility of ice conditions and patchy freezing rain leading to slick areas on bridges and overpasses. Wetness will be the main cause of freezing.
At 5 a.m. The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex witnessed intermittent rains on Tuesday in several areas. Freezing rain is anticipated to continue throughout the entire day.
Tuesday’s forecast calls for a cold weather to follow throughout the entire day, and the highest temperature will be at par 50 degrees at approximately 9 p.m.
Commencing from 11 a.m, freezing rain is expected to take place in the northwest areas of North Texas. Be extra careful around bridges and areas of overpasses.
