Cincinnati Faces Bitter Cold And Additional Snowfall This Week

It has been a rather dangerously cold weekend post valentines for Cincinnati, with more cold and snow to come. This is due to the Arctic blast making its way towards the East Coast.

There has been combinations of heavy rain and snow in tandem with each other, causing flooding in many parts of the region. Rainfall and snow reached 2–3 inches with this storm. Meteorologist Eric Dobroka posted on X “I’d say the last 24 hours were pretty active around here! Snowfall amounts generally range from 2-3″+ across the Tri-state”  and share the given picture below to give some reference.

There will be a Watch and the watch will last from Sunday night to Wednesday morning, according to National Weather Service forecasts.

Citizens are advised to remain indoors as much exposure to such extreme cold conditions can be at risk of frost nip, frostbite, hyperthermia.

The bitter cold arctic blast could decrease temps even more in the upcoming week. Monday highs are in the mid 20s, which is significantly less than that of the normal average temperature, which is in its mid 40s. This type of weather will be seen all through the week.

There could be another storm on Wednesday morning, laying thick inches of snow. Morning drive may get affected but should taper off early, afternoon drive can also be affected.  The I-275 loop near Cincinnati is said to be expecting 2–4 inches of snow. The snow will be less in the far north around 1–2 inches and heavier in the far south around 4–5 inches.

This is all upon the storm track and will actually be determining the total. The storm track could change, If the track changes northerly, which would mean higher totals. If the track changes more southerly, then the overall totals will be lesser.

So keep warm indoors and don’t go out unless you really need to. That’s basically what the weather service recommends if you have to go outside. That includes two to three layers on your upper and lower body; gloves, warm hats, face masks and boots. Be careful with many cold related injuries as they be more prevalent and going out for help could be hazardous.

Long-Term Weather Outlook

The weather forecast for Cincinnati indicates that this cold spell will persist through the week. Following Wednesday’s snow event, temperatures are expected to stay low, with more cold fronts anticipated in the coming days.

By late February, conditions may begin to moderate slightly, but residents should remain prepared for continued winter weather challenges
